Position Summary:
The Business Analyst gathers business requirements, analyzes them in light of systems’ functionality and capability, determines feasibility, negotiates solutions with the customer and produces high quality project deliverables that meet business needs. The BA proactively leverages Envisage’s domain expertise, industry experience and technical competence to add value to all aspects of the client’s processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
PRIMARY
- Analyze aspects of a client’s operations to formulate requirements that will translate to technical specifications and finally system programming that improves performance and profitability of the client’s related function.
- Review existing processes, determine business processes and workflow.
- Lead meetings with customer and conduct interviews with users to elicit and clarify requirements.
- Document and communicate process, procedure, findings and analysis.
- Produce detailed functional designs for business users, development, and QA.
- Estimate level of effort for Business Analysis activity and provide input to Project Management.
- Identify, document and resolve issues. Escalate unresolved issues to BA Director and/or Project Manager, as appropriate.
- Create Release Notes and User Guides, as appropriate.
- Actively participate in all phases of the project lifecycle and work closely with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that business requirements are met.
- Prioritize and successfully complete multiple tasks to support system releases.
- Assist in managing customer expectations, including negotiating on priorities and solution alternatives.
ADDITIONAL
General Operations
- Be available to customer, teammates and management with regular, punctual and reliable attendance.
- Track and record time accurately and in sufficient detail to enable client billing.
- Participate in company processes such as recruiting and mentoring, as needed.
Operational Interfaces:
- Reports to Director of Business Analysts.
- No Direct Reports.
- Meets regularly with client business users to elicit and clarify requirements.
- Works with other Business Analysts, particularly those assigned to related projects, to ensure solutions are complete.
- Works with Envisage developers to ensure understanding of system business requirements as well as to develop solution alternatives.
- Collaborates with Quality Analysts to ensure that test cases are comprehensive and effective.
- Provides regular input to the Project Manager to enable tracking of project timelines, risks and issues.
Education, Experience and Other Position Requirements:
- 3-7 years in a Business Analyst capacity for a software development organization.
- In-depth knowledge of the retirement industry knowledge highly desirable and could be considered in lieu of BA experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree; experience could be considered in lieu of degree.
- Excellent computer skills including word processing, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; must be dynamic, articulate, positive and engaging.
- Self-starter; able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
